Muay Thai Style Combination With Singdam

Muay Thai is the art of 8 limbs. It’s called this because it uses what they call all 8 limbs of the body. This basically just means that Muay Thai is built around 4 different kinds of strikes that you can use on either side, making it 8. Those strikes being punches, kicks, knees and elbows.

Muay Thai is one of the only singular martial arts that trains so many different kinds of strikes in depth. This is what makes it so devastating. One of the most dangerous types of Muay Thai fighters you can face is one that is really good at mixing these strikes together. Most fighters tend to switch between techniques without ever having any real flow to them.

If you can flow from limb to limb, you are able to mix up strikes in a way that most people can’t do and especially can’t handle. This is a great way to overwhelm your opponent and make them feel like they are drowning .

The best way to get a handle on mixing strikes is to practice combinations that involve the different strikes available in Muay Thai. Well, luckily we have one of the best active Muay Thai fighters from the motherland to show us how it is done!

In this video Singdam Yokkao Saenchaigym shows us a combination that mixes together punches, kicks and elbows.

Who Is Singdam Yokkao Saenchaigym

Singdam Yokkao Saenchaigym, formerly Singdam Kaitmuu9, is a Muay Thai fighter from the motherland of the art, Thailand. Singdam has an insane record of 276 Wins, 66 Losses and 2 Draws. He is also the 2012 Lumpinee champion, which is basically the highest honor that one can earn in Muay Thai.

Punch to Kick to Elbow Combination

The video starts off with Singdam detailing how to throw each strike exactly in the combination. The combination starts off with a rear cross and then goes into a lead leg kick to the body. Singdam then finishes off the combination with an elbow to the head.

When you are just starting the combination off you want to step in with your cross to help cover the distance. From there you can step up with your back leg to throw the lead leg kick to the body. If you are throwing this combination from an orthodox stance, aim this kick to the liver, as that could end the fight even before you end the combination.

You can use a switch kick for this lead leg kick. \Keep in mind that using a switch kick might put you too far away from your opponent to land the elbow. Do your best to land forward as well no matter what type of kick you use.

When you are going in to finish the combination with the rear elbow, you can choose between a vertical or a horizontal elbow. It’s up to you and what you think will actually land depending on your opponent’s guard.
